Who are we?
We are the Flur family—Miriam, Bjarne, Astrid, and Hannes—a creative and adventurous family of four from Norway. We live in Hurdal Ecovillage, surrounded by nature, our Samoyed dog, two fluffy cats, and five egg-laying hens. From our home, we run a design business focused on graphic design, communication, and community building. Our children attend the local Steiner school, where friendships flourish for both kids and parents.
But when life feels too predictable, adventure calls. Miriam, always drawn to new experiences, felt the urge to step into the unknown. Bjarne, ever the optimist and problem-solver, was quick to figure out how to make it happen. In August 2025, we set off on a 10-month journey through Asia, balancing work, homeschooling, and discovery.
Asia has played a meaningful role in our lives. Bjarne was born in Nepal, and Miriam’s father lived in Thailand. This trip was originally planned to visit him, but after his sudden passing in 2024, it became even more important—to honor his memory and show our children the places he called home. Along the way, we hope to explore different cultures, challenge our perspectives, and see the world through fresh eyes.
More than anything, this journey is about growing together as a family, embracing the unexpected, and making memories that will shape us for years to come. We don’t have all the answers, but we do know this: there’s never a perfect time to take a leap—so we’re doing it now.
